Privacy Policy

Summary

• Your transaction files never leave your device. The calculator reads and processes them in your browser, in a separate part of the site (app.cryptotaxowl.com) that has no ads, no analytics and no third-party code.
• No accounts. We don’t ask for your name, email, exchange logins, API keys, wallet addresses or recovery phrases, and we never will.
• Content pages are funded by Google ads. Google and its partners may use cookies on those pages, including for personalised ads where you agree.
• Cookieless analytics count visits to content pages in aggregate.
• Nothing is saved on your device unless you choose to, apart from your colour theme if you change it.

Who we are

This website, cryptotaxowl.com and app.cryptotaxowl.com (“CryptoTaxOwl”, “we”, “us”), is operated by Infinity Square Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16880965), registered office 483 Green Lanes, London, N13 4BS, United Kingdom. Your transaction files

When you import exchange files or enter transactions in the calculator, they are read into memory in your browser tab and processed by code running on your device. The files, their contents, file names, and anything derived from them (balances, gains, reports) are not sent to us or anyone else. The calculator runs in an isolated frame on app.cryptotaxowl.com. Browser security keeps the scripts on our content pages, including advertising and analytics, from reading inside that frame, and the frame sends the page only technical messages such as its height.

To work, the calculator downloads fixed files from our own server, such as its code, rules data and currency rates. These downloads are identical for every visitor and contain nothing about your transactions. Our hosting provider sees these requests as it would any page request (see below).

By default nothing is kept after you close the tab. If you choose to save a project file, it is created on your device and saved where you choose. If you opt in to keeping your workspace in this browser, it’s stored in your browser’s storage for app.cryptotaxowl.com only, and the calculator has a button to clear it.

The single-trade calculator

The capital gains calculator takes a few numbers you type, and runs directly on that page rather than in the isolated frame. The arithmetic happens in your browser and what you type isn’t sent to our servers, but because the page also carries ads, we don’t describe it as isolated from them.

Hosting and security logs

The site is static and hosted on Cloudflare’s network. When your browser requests a page or file, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the address requested and the time, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don’t use this to identify you. Cloudflare handles it under its own privacy policy and retention periods.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on content pages to understand use in aggregate: pages visited, referring sites, and broad device, browser and country information. It doesn’t use cookies or build a profile of you. It never runs inside the calculator frame and never receives transaction data, amounts, asset names or file names.

Advertising and cookies

CryptoTaxOwl is free because content pages show a small number of ads served by Google AdSense. Ads appear only in labelled spaces on content pages, never inside the calculator, on legal pages or next to your results.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our visitors based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. If you do, or if you don’t give consent, you may still see non-personalised ads based on the page you’re viewing; these can still use cookies or similar technologies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention.

Google may process technical data such as your IP address, device identifiers and cookie IDs to deliver and measure ads and detect invalid activity. Our cookie policy lists what may be set.

Your consent choices

If you visit from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before non-essential cookies or similar technologies are used for advertising, through a Google-certified consent management platform. You can accept, reject, or choose by purpose and vendor, and change your mind at any time using the privacy settings link provided with the consent message or by clearing this site’s cookies. Visitors in US states with privacy laws may be shown a notice about opting out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. The calculator works the same whatever you choose, and with an ad blocker.

Stored on your device

If you email us

We receive your email address, your message and anything you include, and use them only to reply and deal with your request. We keep correspondence for as long as needed for that and any follow-up, normally no more than two years, unless the law requires longer. Please don’t send your transaction files or any keys or recovery phrases: we never need them.

Legal bases (UK GDPR)

• Consent: advertising cookies and personalised ads where consent is required; storing your workspace if you opt in.
• Legitimate interests: running and securing the site (hosting logs, cookieless analytics), showing non-personalised ads that fund the free service, and replying to messages. These involve little data and nothing about your transactions.
• Strictly necessary storage: remembering your theme, which you ask for by changing it.

Sharing and international transfers

We don’t sell personal data. The only organisations that process data in connection with the site are Cloudflare (hosting and analytics) and Google (advertising) and, where you consent, Google’s advertising partners. Some process data outside the UK, including in the United States, under safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum, as set out in their terms. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests; you can withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@cryptotaxowl.com and we’ll respond within one month. Because we never receive your transaction data and have no accounts, we usually hold very little that can identify you, often only an email you sent. For data held by Google or Cloudflare, you can also use their own privacy tools.

Complaints

Please tell us first so we can put things right. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. In the EEA you can contact your local data protection authority.

Children

CryptoTaxOwl is for adults dealing with their own tax affairs and isn’t directed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy if the way the site works changes, and record significant changes in the changelog. Effective date: 7 October 2026.
