Terms of Use
These terms apply when you use cryptotaxowl.com and the calculator at app.cryptotaxowl.com. Please read them, especially the parts about advice and liability.
Using CryptoTaxOwl
CryptoTaxOwl is provided by Infinity Square Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16880965), registered office 483 Green Lanes, London, N13 4BS, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it. You need no account, and you can stop using the site at any time.
Not tax, legal or financial advice
CryptoTaxOwl produces figures for general information. It isn’t tax, legal or financial advice, and using it doesn’t create an adviser–client relationship. We don’t prepare or file tax returns, and we don’t tell you what to report. Guides explain rules in general terms and may not cover your circumstances. If you’re unsure about anything, speak to a qualified tax adviser. The full disclaimer forms part of these terms.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for what you file with any tax authority, and for checking the figures before you rely on them.
- A report can only be as complete and accurate as the files and values you give it. Missing history, wrong classifications and assumptions you accept (such as zero cost for an item) change the result, and the report lists them for you to review.
- Keep your own records. Tax authorities expect you to keep records of your transactions and how you valued them.
- Choose the right country and tax year, and settings that reflect your situation.
Accuracy and limits
We work to apply each country’s published rules correctly, cite the official source for each rule, and test the calculations against official worked examples where they exist. Tax rules are complex and change, and some areas are unclear. We can’t guarantee that the site is free of errors, complete or up to date for your circumstances. The calculator doesn’t handle derivatives, margin, DeFi positions, NFTs, business or trading activity, or companies, and excludes such rows by default. If you find an error, please tell us at errors@cryptotaxowl.com.
Free service and ads
The calculator and reports are free. Content pages are funded by advertising. We don’t endorse products or services advertised on the site, and ads aren’t recommendations. We don’t accept affiliate payments from exchanges or promote buying or selling crypto.
Acceptable use
Don’t use the site in a way that breaks the law, interferes with its operation or other visitors, attempts to gain unauthorised access, or misrepresents yourself as us. Don’t present reports generated by CryptoTaxOwl as prepared or checked by us, and don’t use our name to ask anyone for keys, passwords or recovery phrases.
Content and licences
The site design, text and code belong to us or our licensors. You may use reports you generate for any purpose, including sharing them with your accountant. The CSV template format is published under CC0, and public rules data files, when published, are licensed under CC BY 4.0. Exchange names are used only to describe file formats; they belong to their owners, who don’t endorse us. Currency reference rates are from the European Central Bank (source: ECB statistics).
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, and because the service is free and for general information:
- we provide the site “as is” and “as available”, without warranties that it will meet your needs or be uninterrupted or error-free;
- we aren’t liable for any tax, interest, penalties or other losses arising from figures you choose to file, or from your reliance on the site;
- we aren’t liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profits, data or opportunity.
If you use the site as a consumer, you have legal rights that these terms don’t affect.
Changes and availability
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, and update these terms. Changes take effect when published here, with the effective date updated. Significant changes are noted in the changelog.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU you may also be able to bring proceedings where you live. Questions about these terms: hello@cryptotaxowl.com. Effective date: 7 October 2026.
